Students of Raphat College of Education, Obaagun, Osun State on Thursday, 17 June 2021, for the first time elected their Representatives into the Students’ Council in a keenly contested poll.
The first-ever election of the College which had 163 electorates cast their votes for 15 candidates, started by 10 am and ended by 12 noon, as students defied the hot weather to throng all out for their preferred aspirants.
Collation and counting of votes started immediately, as the Independent RACOED Electoral Committee(IREC) members, the candidates’ agent, the aspirants and their supporters shared the freaky moment.
The IREC Chairman, Mr Oketayo Wasiu, after counting the votes cast outrightly declared candidates of the various portfolios winners.
In what was a historic moment, Ayanwole Taiwo Ayankunle was declared winner of the Presidential election with Ademola Oluwatoyin Hannah as the Vice President-elect.
Twin brother of the President-elect, Ayanwole Kehinde Ayantayo, was declared General Secretary- elect, Abbas Yunus Akorede, the Financial Secretary-elect, Bamgboye Fortunate Ayomide, Public Relations Officer(PRO-elect), Omojeminiyi Jude Oluwatade, Welfare Secretary-elect, and Ogbu Wisdom Ekma, Sports Director-elect.
Ogungbuyi Adekunle and Adeyeye Rapheal were unopposed as the Social Director and Treasurer respectively, as they were returned elected a day earlier after the aspirants presented their manifesto.
The results of the polls were received with wide jubilation with pomp and pageantry, as supporters of various winners celebrated their victory in a frenzied atmosphere.
